Beauty. The more we feel aware of our truth, the more we realize that we embody beauty growing and blossoming in unique and special ways. One person's scar is a treasured reminder of bouncing back from injury. Our stretch marks and rounded belly may be a beautiful reminder that our body has carried and created life. Freckles and wrinkles are today's reminder of yesterday's joy, pain, and expression- all of which we have triumphed through.
When we allow our bodies to be a roadmap of the journey- one we can admire as an ultimate expression of the human experience, we can treat it like the temple it is for our spirit and energy. We can befriend all of the pieces that make us a whole.
Today, at 44, I have a harder time keeping my core flat, but I am stronger than I've ever been. I've learned to allow myself to live- without the need for perfection, yet, expecting that I continue to stay limber and fit- continuing to grow. There are moments when there is pressure to be what we see in magazines, but if it doesn't fit real life, it may not actually be something meant for us. I want to live and enjoy in balance- not starve myself and actively harm my body to look a certain way.
We can all find the point at which we are nurturing our bodies when we intersect movement with our mind. Watering the soil of our thoughts with loving words- accepting words that don't shame or guilt us... is key. Finding a tribe of other women who uplift without competing- who listen without judgment and who want us to succeed is a gift any evolving human can appreciate.
One of my goals is to create circles that support true, deep health and help people belong as they grow.
If you'd like to try fitness that nurtures your mind and surrounds you with uplifting people, consider joining my virtual group women's fitness/empowerment class. We will be meeting two times per week- starting with intention setting and ending with mindfulness. The middle is for the fitness part- the power. We will work full-body with strength, power, and mobility. We will stretch and relax- ending with a powerful meditation. All fitness levels are welcome. We will spend 30 minutes total- so we can hit it and forget it.
We can't wait for perfection to love ourselves- or we never will. Instead, we should move and grow because we love ourselves as we are now- and we know we are worth it.
